Backgammon Board

Backgammon Board

I constructed this board game over a few days in the summer. It has an end grain construction of mahogany and pine interlocking to create a bold contrast of colors. I glued the wood together in a vice after carefully cutting the pieces to interlock and sanding it down. I then created a stencil and printed it off, using acrylic paint to detail the wood. By using an end grain style, I was able to bring out the grain of the wood in sanding which created a more premium finish. I made the game pieces by sawing a tree branch into very thin slices, painting the black pieces but leaving the “white” pieces untouched, giving a rustic feel. There are also images attached of the process I undertook to make this boardgame, from arranging the different segments and painting the board in stages.
